Erie things happened in the dark last night!

Last evening as we came towards a suitable anchor place we saw a mono sail boat obviously aground and nearby a trimaran unreasonably (aka touching) a green marker buoy. We went past them slowly and anchored about half a mile further on.

In the night at about 8pm we saw flahing lights and a tug was taking a sail boat South, stopped turned around and went back north. Strange, think it was the grounded monohaul.

Then in the dim light we noticed a boat very near us, a strange white shape. Well they anchored too close thought I. Got the flash light and looked, it was the trimaran about 50ft up tide between us and the beach. We were very close to the beach so seemed very strange to anchor there. No one on board. About 10 minutes later it started moving again and drifted past us about 3ft away. Then moved off down tide into the night, no lights, no one on board. Memories of the Mary Celeste.

We called the coastgaurd on the vhf and reported a drifting vessel.

All very strange dark ghostly white, empty, no one on board and moving by itself. Before that the bizarre behaviour of the tug and Sailboat that had flashing lights everywhere.

Strange mysterious night.
