We went to the Heritage Museum in Nassau. The Lucaya Indian lived here when Columbus arrived. The artifacts before the 14th Centry were impressive. Goat’s skin, Snake skin, the Turtle Back and different type of Conchs. Palm leaves are made into beautiful straw bands and baskets.
During the Slavery period there was a photo of black babies. I felt sick to hear that the babies were fattened and used as Alligator Bait. After seeing the photo I could not concentrate at all. We checked on Google and it seems that this really happened.
The National Art Gallery of the Bahamas has a very interesting show. The entire Museum is filled with Brent Malone’s paintings and pottery. He had a lot of different styles of paintings in his life. Some paintings are exquisite. If he had concentrated on one style he would have been artistically more successful, in my opinion.
This painting clearly shows the emotion between mother and child.
This symbolic painting with natural Conch looks like a different person’s painting.
Peter wants to be part of this Sculpture that was in the garden of the National Art Gallery.
Tonight we had dinner at Senior Frog restaurant. They opened a live conch and made the salad at your table. It tasted good but the Conch salad by Hardass in Morgan’s Bluff is the best so far. The spicy sauce is much better.
