We met Sea Squirrel (Fiona and Chris) and Solace (Andrew) Who want to go South from George Town. Since the season (winter) is over, almost every boat goes north and back home from George Town or south down the Caribbean. The five of us together rented a car and drove around the Great Exuma Cay.

Peter was excited to see the Tropic of Cancer. It is furtherest North where the sun is directly overhead for one day of year.

We went to the Mom’s Bakery and got just out of the oven cakes. Peter is pouring Rum over Rum Cake under the supervision of Mom.

It is pouring with rain outside with lightening and Thunder, as the Forcast predicted. All the boats moved to the West side of the harbour from East side. Even Duchess moved even though they told us they would not move originally. Somebody said on the radio the radar indicated that three quarter of the ordeal is gone by. All in all the extreme weather lasted about 4 hours.

We moved back to East side of the harbour, as well as many other boats. The weather is sunny as it is most of time. We are preparing the provisions and Propane gas to leave George Town to go South. We are making sure to get paper charts of Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. We have the Chart in our computer and cell phone but Peter wants to have paper as well.
Jettie of Duchess is going to give me surviving technique lessons in the water. First thing she taught me was to relax in the water and tread water. I feel already less anxious about the water. It is amazing! Today another session and I can not wait.A
We all, ten people, had a dinner on Duchess, a Greek food meal. It seems like a typical George Town evening gethering. Everybody was in good spirits and felt good to be together. We enjoyed the gethering and dinner immensely.
Jettie gave a big “Gift” to me. The ability to tread water and float for a while. She gave me three wonderful swimming classes and now I can stay in the water without panicking to lead to survival. Since I could not swim for an extended period before it now changes all the perspective about boating. I am not afraid to fall into the water any more. My anxiety level is completely gone down. I can not believe that I can tread the water long enough to prepare any situation.

We are leaving George Town! I have accomplished a lot here. The swimming, Dinghy driving and mastered the use the VHF radio. Sad to say bye to Jettie! We will meet Sea Squirrel and Solace at the Anchorage of Long Island tomorrow afternoon and sail to the South together for the Dominican Republic, Luperon.

Looking good, with all best wishes for safe harbors and calm seas. Enjoy!
