We are back in New York City. We want to take some time visiting art galleries and reconnecting with old friends. We are looking forward to meeting you again. A lot has happened since our last blog entry. It is a long and twisted story!
We had intended to build an extension to our house in Lentella Italy but the slope of the land and planning regulations made it very difficult. So we decided to sell and buy another property that had the space we required.
While searching for properties we visited the ancient town of Atri in Abruzzo, a delightful old town with easy access to the coast and mountains. It was in Atri that we met Ireneo Janni a well-known Italian artist who paints and sculptures. He has two of his sculptures in public squares in Atri and the nearby coastal town of Silvi. He invited us to his house for lunch. His house is an old school with a large barn workshop for painting and sculpture, he makes big sculptures. His work is very interesting and currently focuses on what we would describe as Pre-Raphaelite nude paintings. He is also very active in the historic society of Atri and we attended his book opening. His book describes and documents the history of Atri and water management, ancient caves, and cisterns that collect and store water for this hilltop town. A very interesting person.

One of Lee’s favorite paintings by Janni and his sculpture in Silvi, Abruzz, Italy.
In September our tenant in our NYC apartment left. After some thought, we decided to hold off buying again in Italy and return to New York to do some kitchen renovations on our apartment there. So here we are back in NYC and looking forward to catching up with friends and family.
