Finally today the sun came out so we got in the dinghy to explore the water logged forest in our Oxbow Lake. What a wonderful place. The trees are growing in the water and are covered in Spanish Moss. It really is like something from a fairytale.

We rowed, no engine noise to spoil the serenity here, the dinghy in between the trees and into hidden creeks, truly magical. The photos do not do it justice.

Tomorrow we will move again, maybe another creek in this forest or maybe Georgetown, SC.
According to the cruiising guide the Waccamaw river is one of the three most beautiful river in USA, the others being the Hudon and the Tenasse. It is also
It is also called Black River because the water is black
We are now in George Town. It is so obvious that we are in South. Southern music in the restaurant and the waiter speaks with strong southern drawl ( and singing intonation).

We went to the Rice Museum, It was so interesting to see how they converted the Swamp to the vast rice paddy with geometric dikes all over and the good old days when Southern Carolina was king of rice. We bought some old style Charlston Gold Rice and Aromatic Rice so will see if the hype is true when we cook it.

So…. how was the rice?
