Shroud Cay, aground!

We anchored close into a creek on Shroud Cay in 3ft of Water.

We went to the fresh water natural Well on the Shroud Cay. While waiting for Peter to bring the water plastic containers from the boat, I was sitting on the shore under the Palm tree listening to the nature sounds. It is so relaxing that I feel like to become the one with the nature …………..

Water tastes good with hint of brown, just like Dartmoor water in Plymouth UK.

Bad weather is coming and it will be for couple of days. We decided to move to the place called Little Harbor, in which only one boat can stay. It was ambitious decision because there is only a small part of deep water. We grounded, when putting the Anchor the wind blew us so one rudder was in the sand.

We carried another Anchor on to the other side by dinghy and threw the other Anchor and pulled out the boat. It was successful. Finally by putting three Anchors to make a triangle shape, we felt safe and stable

We are thrilled and happy that we could go skinny-dipping here. Only the nature around! We think that we are really more part of the nature itself!

In the morning, we realized that the Anchor in the bow dragged during the night so we grounded again. This time strongly on a falling tide. The boat does not rock, has a slight list and one side is 6 inches out of the water. It is now 1:30 PM, the tide keeps coming in so we will float again soon. Meanwhile Peter took the advantage to clean the bottom of the boat nicely.

The floor bottom is fine sands it would not be a big problem. Hey, the boat is starting to rock again gently. While floating, we are planning to put four Anchors now.

There is a waterway that crosses the Island completely with Mangrove swamps. The waterway is so beautiful and isolated. The other end, a beautiful Beach is there!

Look at the water, the most beautiful so far!

The water way back to the boat is on the right.

Next morning after listening to the weather forecast, we decide to leave this place. There will be strong North wind this afternoon! There are big sharp Rocks toward the South side where we would go if we dragged again. It is too bad since the Beach is so beautiful. I wanted to go the North waterway to cross this Cay to the Beach today. Michelle of Margaritaville said also the most beautiful beach in her text.

We are sailing to Waderick Wells Sea and Land Park Mooring area. This Mooring area is protected from all the sides. And the south area, one of the most beautiful snorkeling section with all kinds of the corals. It is about noon, the North cold front is not arriving yet. It will be this afternoon.

There are a lot of boats that are sailing to the same direction together. They are all preparing for the bad weather like us. We will be arriving within an hour. The Sea is still calm but it started to rain and dark sky is threatening. We are almost near the Moorings. Our Mooring number is 20. I must go to the bow to grab the Mooring and relax.

Howling wind and dark clouds.

It is funny that Peter and I have different feelings at different sailing journeys. He said that I was couragious sometimes when in danger but today there was no danger. I was laughing hard and scared that the North wind would catch us quickly. The wind is howling and rainy a lot. Nice to hear that the radio man ask us if every thing is all right. It was very assuring to me.

We told him that we will stay three nights here. It is a very beautiful spot, like everybody mentioned. The wind sounds worse because Peter set up the blue thing, raincatcher as a experiment, it shakes everything.

We took a hike and photographed the boats from BooBoo Hill. On the top of the hill, the boaters place driftwood with the boat name on it. We need to find a driftwood for Notre Voyage.

Spirits of every boat that passed by.

This 52 foot Spermwhale died because of swallowing a plastic bag, looks to him like Jellyfish.

Humans need to live with nature. This skeleton shows why.

The trail has all different kind of scenes, sometimes it feels like to be on the moon. The unusual landscape of the rocks, sand and unusual looking plants.
