Caribbean Art

It is really fun to see and enjoy the local art. The interior of the Brisas House in Culebra will be full of local art pieces.
There is a sense of Purety and Genuiness of the heart in the Carribean Art. The Expressions are peaceful and happy. The black wood Sculpture in the middle is the feeling of realistic and genuine emotion.

All different mediums for Art

These hand woven Fans and the Baskets are truly beautiful. You can see the love of labour and passion of color and material. We bought them in the African Market at Philipsburg in the Dutch side of St. Maarten. The two fish are painted on a sheet of shaped metal.

These paintings will be accent Art pieces in the living room. The painter signed as Stevence and I think are very good paintings. The colors and the Techniques are really vibrant. We have been shopping for a week and we went to all the Galleries but we bought these at the street market. These are real good finds.

Finally the funky metal Turtle and contemporary pieces of ceramics with Bird, Sea animals baked in a tile. The vibrant color and the composition is quite good.

Contemporary local Art

Between the shopping, we went up to the Fort in Marigot in the French side. You could see all anchored Boats and the Lagoon at once. We met a nice couple from New York State and they took the photo of us. We chatted for a while about the sailing and travelling the world.

Peter is enjoying being between the ruin walls. Walking through the Ruins is very mystical and wonderful. After the Fort we went to a French Restaurant. The food is so much better and beautifully presented on the French rather than Dutch side.

Between the Ruins

St. Maarten has large Habours and a lot of Boats are anchored. Every morning there is a Cruise net broadcast introducing the new arrivals, events, buy sell etc. We met a Scottish couple through the Cruise net and every winter they come to Carribean from Scotland. We bought a chart from them.

St Maarten has everything a cruiser needs hardware and Chandlers, big French supermarkets and lots of bars. There are beaches with promenades. Peter is waiting for Mathew to come before we go to sand blast beach. It is at the end of the airport runway!
