We desperately need a kitchen area, 2nd highest priority after a bed, the bed is done so now on to the kitchen.

We have a small kitchen area. We planned a full kitchen, oven, dishwasher, etc. but could not easily fit it all in without expanding into the living room area. We decided to put a minimum kitchen against one wall and maybe expand with more cabinets later if required.
Preparation was very destructive, old tiles were removed and channels were built in the wall to take water and electricity out to the back of the house. As with all construction work, halfway through it looked terrible. It was soon cleaned up and new tiles installed. Time to select a kitchen.

We searched local kitchen shops but nothing seemed to fit and delivery times was several months. So off to Ikea. With Ikea you could be anywhere in the world, people either love or hate Ikea. We think they are practical.
Peter thinks Ikea furniture is strong, his kids got Ikea bedroom/study furniture when they were about 10 years old, they took it with them when they got married!
The Ikea in Pescara, about 1-hour drive, is a normal large Ikea. We go there walk around get halfway, get tired, and go home. Next visit the same happens, we never get to the second half of the store!. Only kidding we start at the other end so do see the complete store.
The kitchen delivery and install day was a busy day, the electrician was busy on that day upgrading wiring, the fireplace was being installed. It all worked out well and we can now cook and eat.

You two sure have intestinal fortitude!!!!
